Chris “CHRIST” Robertson (Anvil)

Biography

Christopher John Robertson was born in Etobicoke at Queensway General Hospital in what is now the west end of Toronto Ontario Canada on February 9th, 1967. He began playing classical music on stringed instruments at the age of eleven starting with cello, moving to violin and finally sneaking onto upright (double) bass at the age of thirteen when the music instructor went on a three week vacation. When she returned, she asked to hear him play and was satisfied with the speed he took to the instrument.

At the age of fifteen, he joined his first metal band (for three years), simply called METTLE, learning and playing old school metal songs in their day from Black Sabbath to Iron Maiden.

Playing in cover bands to make extra money on weekends and attending various jam nights when not working, he became part of two original Toronto based bands; the DAYJOB ORCHESTRA (1 album and 1 EP) and VERMILLION SKYE (7 albums).

Through a mutual friend, ‘Christ’ started jamming with ANVIL in mid April of 2013, and after ‘roadying’ for an American run (learning all the stage moves and figuring out harmony vocals) he was asked to officially join the band for Headbanger’s Open Air Festival in Germany, 2014, and has been with them for over ten years and five studio albums. It has been said that he vowed to be their last bassist.
