Headway’s new beginning
It’s been 45 years since its inception in 1977 and Headway celebrated its 45th anniversary in 2022 with the release of various limited editions and special models.
The 46th year marks the beginning of a new chapter and the start of a new era with the release of a special model.
The name of this new model is -The Eagle-, an evolution of Headway’s top-of-the-line flagship model, the HD-115.
While inheriting a lot from the HD-115, the specs of this model have all been carefully reviewed and adjusted.
The new model comes as a limited edition model developed by the craftsmen of Headway’s elite -Aska Team Build- team in collaboration with master builder Yasuo Momose.
The design concept is inspired on the animal of the same name, the eagle, which also is the symbol of Headway and to match the occasion,
the “Headway” headstock logo has been redesigned and redrawn as well.
Yasuo Momose also has great affection for -The Eagle-,
the flagship model into which he poured his youthful passion and which was reconstructed by his beloved disciples, whom he spent his life as a craftsman to raise, and that now stand on their own as admirable builders.
This model is now ready to make its debut as the legitimate successor to the legendary HD-115.

A new bracing for a new beginning
A new bracing for a new beginning
Custom builders Yasui and Furihata redesigned the “normal bracing” that was used by Momose Yasuo at the time of Headway’s inception. The redesgined bracing style is called the “Mid Point Shifted X Bracing” The -Mid Point Shifted X Bracing- is slightly scalloped to produce an articulate tone with lots of clarity and rich overtones. The resulting sound created by this bracing design truly shows the Momose-ism that has been passed down from generation to generation, and it gives a sound unique to Headway that will make you feel the meaning of “a new beginning”.

The custom builders carefully selected materials for 30 units to be used in this limited production from our most carefully guarded stock of materials. The wood selected by the custom builder’s excellent selection skills is indubitably the highest quality wood we have avaialable.

This model features a custom -Extra Slim V-Neck- which has been optimized even further and is only a feature in the Eagle this neck is 0.5mm thinner at the 12th fret as it tapers to the high position, making the neck easier to grip
Designs
New Logo
The newly designed “Headway Crown Logo” was inspired by eagles, known as “the king of sky”.
Headstock Inlay
The “Eagle” which Headway has used as a symbolic motif since the company’s founding, has been re-built to the specifications of the 2023 Limited Edition. The image of an eagle spreading its wings and flapping them in the sky represents Headway’s soaring into a new era.
Limited plate
A plate including the name “The Eagle” and the limited edition serial number for each of the 30 units are engraved on a machined brass plate and fixed to the back of the headstock.
Fretboard inlay
The fretboard is decorated with feathers of eagles that are said to indicate the way one should follow. The design is intended to mark the beginning of a new era in the history of Headway.
3-piece back
The 3-piece back is made of luxurious Madagascar rosewood for the center wood, which is said to be characterized by its wide, dynamic range and powerful tone, and its rarity as a material is increasing year by year.
Sound hole cover
The sound hole cover keeps the inside of the body moist and reduces the volume produced when playing. It was designed exclusively for the Eagle, giving it an appearance befitting a limited model.
Sound hole label
The sound hole label has a limited design exclusive to this model. The stoic Eagle that you can see through the sound hole gives a truly majestic presence that is only boosted by the exquisite flame of the wood it is engraved in.
