We chose the motif of a cherry blossom tree to represent Headway’s progress to date and the future it will create.
The design reflects our wish that Headway’s progress will continue for a long time to come, and that we will keep time with our customers with dignified blooming of beautiful flowers like cherry blossoms.

Headway’s symbolic eagle motif

Headway’s symbolic motif since the very beginning. The head inlay, which is a combination of the eagle and the cherry blossom motif that we have been working on in recent years, expresses “the fusion of the past and the present.

A pickguard of fluttering cherry petals and eagle feathers

The wood pickguard made of Jacaranda is decorated with the design of eagle feathers to express the passage of time. The design also features glimpses of falling petals and drooping branches of cherry trees.

Headway Aska Team Build’s Track Record and New Steps

Headway Aska Team Build is a product of Asuka Factory’s skilled craftsmanship. It has gained a lot of support and reputation as one of the best acoustic guitar makers. In recent years, we have been actively working on Japanese wood models including cherry tree wood, or “Sakura” wood. Our progress as a formidable team continues unabated.

Only the highest quality materials are appropriate for a commemorative model such as this one, so we went with “Jindai Zakura,” which is estimated to have been around since the Yayoi period (More than 2,000 years ago), and Jacaranda, one of the highest quality tonewoods, and “Shuri sakura,” which is extremely rare for its straight vertical wood grain.

Jindai Sakura

Trees that have been buried in the ground for many years are called “Jindai trees” which generally refers to trees that are more than 1,000 years old. In Japanese, the name also suggests that they are “the trees of the age when God existed”, and its main characteristic is its gray discoloration as a result of the millennia past. The “Jindai Sakura” used for The 3000th was dated by a research institute to be a sakura tree that was already 300 years old by the time it was buried in 466 B.C., making it more than 2750 years old.

Jacaranda

Jacaranda, designated as an endangered species by the Washington Convention, is still treasured as the highest grade of rosewood and is called “the greatest treasure of Brazil”. Its bewitching reddish-brown color and uniquely distinctive tone make it the king of woods loved by guitar fans around the world. This time, we have lavishly used selected Jacaranda wood from the Headway wood reserve.

Shuri sakura

The cherry trees used for this model were grown in the Hokkaido Experiment Forest of the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo in an environment maintained for research purposes, so they have a straight grain line that is almost impossible to see in ordinary wild species. This top-quality cherry wood is cut in one-piece straight grain and used luxuriously.

This time, we were able to achieve an overwhelming sense of presence and uniqueness by lavishly using extremely luxurious materials, both in terms of wood and decoration.
We will continue to produce models that live up to the Aska Team Build name without compromise.
