Roasted Maple Neck
This is a special page for Bacchus’ “RSM” models, which have been very well-received since their release in 2020 and feature roasted maple. This page lists the RSM lineup released to date and is useful for comparing models.
About Roasted Maple
Roasted maple is made by heating maple at high temperatures to volatilize the water and oils in the wood, and as a result, increasing its rigidity and stability.
Stability
After a guitar is completed, the wood gradually dries out and becomes more stable as it ages, making it less prone to warping, twisting, and other problems that can interfere with playing the guitar. These changes that occur over time are called aging. Roasted maple is made by heating maple wood at high temperatures to artificially bring the wood closer to its aged state, so it is relatively stable straight out of the box and can be played with confidence for years to come.
Looks
As the word “roast” would lead you to believe, roasted maple has a brown, toasted appearance due to the high-temperature treatment it is put through.
Tone
The tone of the instrument is also improved in the same way that it would improve throughout years of usage thanks to the roasting process. It produces an aged tone like that of a vintage guitar that has cultivated its sound over time.
Other Features
The neck is finished with a thin matte finish to bring out the texture of the roasted neck. The smooth feel of the finish ensures smooth fingering. Although this material is generally used for high-end models, the greatest feature of Bacchus Roasted Maple (RSM) is that it is affordable and can be enjoyed at a reasonable price.
Double Roasted Maple
WRS (double-roasted) are models with both the neck and body materials roasted. In this series, the ash body is also roasted in the same way as the neck material to remove moisture from the wood and increase rigidity and stability. This process gives the wood a toasted-brown color, which gives the natural finish a deeper look. The sound character of the roasted wood, which is also described as “vintage-like” is even more noticeable.
Lineup
Japan Tune-up Series
All Bacchus Japan Tune-up Series, or “JT Series” products are individually tuned and set up in a specialized division in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan, with the idea that players can start using them straight out of the box. The spirit of the Handmade Series, Bacchus’ top-of-the-line line that started in 2001, is carried on and the instruments that produce the best performance are delivered to the market.
Global Series
The Bacchus Global Series is the middle ground of the Bacchus brand, and is designed and colored with the concept of “a lineup that is a little different from the standard lineup”. Most of the Global Series models feature a roasted maple neck for stability, stainless steel frets, a Wilkinson® 2-point bridge, and locking tuners for enhanced playability. The scale options also expand the range of playability. Please find the perfect instrument for you from the wide range of options, including scales, and specifications that are as carefully designed as those of the high-end models. In order to achieve a high level of practicality as a musical instrument, all instruments are inspected by a specialized team in Japan before being shipped to each music store.
