The Japan Red Pine Guitar Project goes back to its roots! New SURF BREAKER & AKAMATSU ROSETTEE also make their first appearance! [#DeviserOneDay]
The One Day Guitar Show is an event for guitarists and bassists to blow away the winter cold! This year, too, each brand is preparing elaborate limited edition models. As you can see in the article that has already been published, the Japanese wood materials that Deviser is devoted to utilizing are not limited to Sakura wood alone.
There’s another popular Japanese wood material Deviser is known for… That is Japanese Red Pine!
Deviser & Japanese Red Pines
We began working on guitars made from Japanese red pine in 2017. It all started when we heard about the damage caused by the pine weevil, which had become a major problem in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, where our company is located. We learned that pine trees with insect holes, knots, and stains were not preferred for furniture and building materials, which were their original uses, and many were being burned or left to rot in the forests.
Facing this situation, we overcame many challenges to complete this red pine guitar. Its sound soon reached the ears of players all over Japan, and we have produced a variety of guitars that transcend the boundaries of a single one of our brands.
The photo at the beginning of this article shows the front of the newly completed “Deviser Technical Center”, which is where various processes such as the work on the Japan Tune-up series take place, and it also serves as a new base of communication for Deviser.
The Japanese Red Pine or “Akamatsu” is an integral part of our city of Matsumoto, so much so that the name of the city itself has it in the name! On top of this, our commitment to using Japanese wood materials and general appreciation of our local heritage made it an easy choice to choose the tree that was to adorn the new Technical Center.
This year’s One Day Guitar Show event returns to its roots!
he Japanese Red Pine guitar, which was exhibited by Momose Guitars at the last Deviser Special Showcase event, will return to its roots this year and will appear in the Bacchus lineup! Furthermore, as indicated by the “SURF-BREAKER 2″ on the neck pocket, this new model will be based on the first JRP guitar.
Here is the finished woodworking process. That characteristic German curve and a large knot with great visual impact on the front of the body.
In the paint booth, we found a unit that had already undergone the coloring process. A warm brownish color was chosen for the color, different from the fresh green of the original Surf Breaker. The aged finish on the body and parts is also inherited, and the bridge section has been changed from the conventional 3-way saddle type to a floating tremolo unit! We have a feeling that this will surprise you not only in appearance but also in sound…stay tuned!
A ROSETTEE JRP guitar is also coming!
A Japanese Red Pine guitar is also being prepared in the new “ROSETTEE” model style, which was introduced just last year! The light sound from the semi-hollow body is impressive, but how will it sound when made out of Japanese Red Pine? We are already excited about this yet unknown sound!
