Introduction

The new Headway “500” Series now on Standard models!

The new 500 series is the latest historic series that we released as Headway. It is a highly inspired piece of work that has a modern design compared to the traditional HD-115’s design. While maintaining the features of the Aska Team Build Series models, the 500 series has a design that gives us enough familiarity to feel comfortable while still packing a punch and being able to impress everyone while performing be it in a concert or at home.

Standard series’ 500 model – Specs

１．Slim U grip

Just like in the superior models, the neck grip has been changed to a thinner U type design for the standard 500 series. The traditional headway guitar design was often referred to as the “thick neck grip.” The thick neck is directly connected to the stiffness and thickness of the guitar output, but of course some people find it difficult to play.

Therefore, the number 500 has been redesigned to be an original slim U shape that many guitarists will find comfortable and easy to play.

２．Lower string action

The best string height setting really depends on the guitar player’s playing style. Originally, we used to go with a string height setting with sufficient clearance so that the strength of the pick stroke became clear, but we often found ourselves in a situation where, after purchase, the customer would ask for us to lower the string height. And so, the string height of the 500 series models has been set lower than before to have a better experience for most users from the get-go.

３．Easy pre-amp installation

It really depends on the guitarist’s style whether or not to put the pickup on the acoustic guitar is a necessity or not, but we made it easy for you if you want to put the pickup on the back, we have added some extra work to make it as smooth and easy as possible.

・Conversion endpin

For the endpin, we included a conversion endpin compatible with 12.2mm endpin jacks. Thanks to this feature, adding a preamp is a very easy task.

・Battery holder and cable hook included

Equipped with a battery holder and a wiring hook. Normally, no matter which side the battery holder is in, there’s always a risk of the battery dethatching and damaging your instrument but for this model’s holder, a screw holds the battery in place, so no matter if you are transporting your instrument or mid-performance, you don’t have to worry about it dethatching.

Headway craftsmen constantly seek improvement and work to create superior guitars. During 2019, the team worked on creating a HOM / DB shaped guitar that is easier to play and capable of producing amazing tones.

The base body shape is an HF shape with a very pronounced outline. From there, we add a 648mm scaled neck and that’s how we get to the HOM model base. Furthermore, the body thickness that controls the spread of the sound was decided to the same as the HD shape (DB = Deep Body * About 117 mm at the body end part).

The bracing of the inside of the HOM body and the front board are based on the “Advanced Rear Shifted X Bracing” design (ARS bracing) that has been actively adopted by Headway in recent years, we moved the crossing position of the X slightly closer to the soundhole for what we call our “Semi-rear shift” design.

The finished product of these specifications gave us slightly different playability and responsiveness from any other Headway guitar to date. The smoothness when you hold it, the depth of the sound it produces, and the richness of its bass are the strongest points of this model.
